Getting to the San Juan Islands is part of the adventure! Most guests will travel through Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) before continuing on to San Juan Island. From Seattle, there are a few different ways to reach Roche Harbor.

By Ferry:

The most common route is to drive to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal and take the Washington State Ferry to Friday Harbor.

Once you arrive in Friday Harbor, Roche Harbor is about a 20-minute drive through the beautiful countryside.

Important tips:

- Summer ferries fill quickly. Advance reservations are strongly recommended and can be made through the WSDOT website. Reservations are currently open for the summer and we recommend booking at your earliest convenience. If your preferred sailing time is full, we recommend booking next best. That said, additional vessel space will release two weeks and two days before sailing — please mark your calendars, as they go live at 7:00 AM PST! Only a small portion of space is held for first-come, first-served travelers.

- Plan to arrive at the terminal at least 60 minutes before departure.

- You can bring your car onto the ferry, or park in Anacortes and walk on. *Reservations are not required for walk-ons.

- After arriving in Friday Harbor, transportation options to Roche Harbor are limited, so we recommend renting a car if possible.

By Seaplane:

For a quicker and incredibly scenic option, several airlines offer flights from the Seattle area directly to Friday Harbor or Roche Harbor.

Kenmore Air offers floatplane service from Lake Union in Seattle and flies directly to Roche Harbor as well as Friday Harbor. Flights are short, beautiful, and a memorable way to arrive on the island.

Shuttle from Seattle:

If you prefer not to rent a car, Bellair Shuttle offers daily service from Sea-Tac Airport and downtown Seattle to the Anacortes Ferry Terminal, where you can walk on. Transportation options on the island are limited, so please plan your final leg of the journey to Roche Harbor Resort in advance. We recommend using one of the recommended services below.
